Hailing from Salyersville, Kentucky, Dr. Heather Ward Oliver's journey in the realm of optometry is marked by academic excellence and a fervent commitment to advancing her field. In 2009, she earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Morehead State University, setting the stage for a dynamic career. Her pursuit of excellence led her to Indiana University, where she obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2013. Eager to refine her expertise, she pursued further training in laser and advanced surgical techniques at Oklahoma's Northeastern State University post-graduation.
Her internships exemplify Dr. Oliver's dedication to specialized care. She honed her skills in pre and post-operative management of cataract and LASIK surgery in Orlando, Florida. She delved into treating glaucoma and dry eye disease in San Antonio, Texas. Her extensive training also encompassed co-managing retinal diseases, pediatrics, low vision, and contact lens care. While she proficiently offers comprehensive optometric services, Dr. Oliver holds a special affinity for primary eye care, glaucoma management, dry eye treatments, and the world of contact lenses.
With memberships in both the Kentucky Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, Dr. Oliver is steadfast in her commitment to staying abreast of advancements in her field. Her passion and dedication were recognized when she became part of the 2015 Kentucky Optometric Association Young Leadership Class.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Oliver finds joy in her personal life. She resides in Nicholasville with her husband, Dr. Philip Oliver, their son Paxton, and their delightful mini Goldendoodle, Maggie. This harmonious blend of professional excellence and familial contentment speaks to Dr. Oliver's ability to balance and thrive in multiple spheres of life.
